March 23, 20179 yr I have an old EARS drive with a jumper on it that i'm replacing. If I still want to use the EARS drive should I remove the jumper now and reformat it?
March 23, 20179 yr All drives now are Advanced Format, so you don't need the jumper. The jumper is a really old legacy thing to make the drive compatible with Windows XP. So, yes, remove the jumper and reformat. Though, those drives are pretty ancient now, I wouldn't want to be using it for anything important. Edited March 23, 20179 yr by HellDiverUK
March 23, 20179 yr Author thanks, not using it for anything important. It is old and thats why it's being replaced, its an old 2TB drive. It was one of the first drives I had back when unraid was version 4 Edited March 23, 20179 yr by squirrellydw
March 23, 20179 yr I have several of those Ancient drives in my array. Slowly but surely weeding them out as my Data needs arise. For me if they have the Jumper in, I just left them in, but every new drive I've added I do not use the Jumper.
