I am trying to preclear a WD RED 4tb.  I am using the utility from the tools.  I used this for 2 disk last week no problems.  The current disk seem likes it failed or just stopped because the elapse time quit running at around 8:30:00.  I noticed my second core on CPU pinned at 100%.  Stopped server / reboot ... Restarted and same issue at 6:36:00. On the first pass...

 

Is my disk bad or is some other issue?

I think he's using the plugin. 

 

You're not the only one with this problem, apparently. Can you please send me the plugin log?

Here is my diag file... I was using the Plug In.... I used it last week with 2 similar drives and had no issues.  The drive had some data on it but did not think I had to format it or anything before the pre clear... not sure if that is causing the issue.

So far so good on third try... only selected one pass at zeroing 43%

Now in post read 53%... seems like this is working better.  Only set for one pass.

So it just locked up CPU 1 again at 100 in the post read @ 58 % ... I am using the plug in.  I will try to do this manually from the CLI and see what happens.

Where did PRECLEAR.SH go in the command line ...it used to be something like this ...  /boot/preclear_disk.sh -A -c 3  /dev/xxx
