April 11, 20179 yr This is probably not the place for this post, but one cannot submit new topics to the Docker Containers forum, so here it is. Is there an up-to-date guide on getting Plex to work with unRAID 6.3.2? Every thread or video I can find is way out of date, not matching what I am seeing at all. I consider myself pretty technical (hey - I got the unRAID server up without any real problems), but I sure can't figure out how to get this to work. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction...

What problems are you having? Not much to getting the app actually installed (pick a template, add in a path to your media on your server) and you're done. How to actually use plex is the domain of plex.tv
April 11, 20179 yr The Docker Containers subforum is for the support threads of existing dockers, so if you already had a specific docker in mind you could post to that support thread. Do you have any other working dockers? Plex is a pretty easy one to configure compared to some. Have you read the Docker FAQ?
April 11, 20179 yr Are you using a Docker version of Plex? I'm using binhex's docker for plex. Only significant think is creating a mount point for the docker instance to access the share where your recordings are, if your using something to DVR content.
April 11, 20179 yr Author So based on my research, it seems the Limetech version is being shut down since Plex released its own Docker for unRAID. So I am using the official Plex one. Once installed, it lets you "Add another Path, Port or Variable." This is where I would add the path to the media (movies, etc.) on my array, right? It asks for... Name: Presume this is something I make up Container Path: Not sure what goes here Host Path: Presume this is the path to the media (something like /mnt/user/Movies)? Default Value: Not idea what would go here Access Mode: Set to Read/Write by default Display: Defaults to "Always" but not sure what this is controlling Required: Not sure what this is doing Password Mask: No I'm sure I am just being stupid, but I seriously can't figure this out! LOL
April 11, 20179 yr Author Oh, and by the way, every time I try to add a Path it fails, and actually removes the Plex Docker.

LOL The plex docker for plex is supported at plex. You might get better support in this forum if you chose one supported here.

Probably something like /mnt/user/movies Defaults are fine for everything else. If you have a separate share for your tv shows, then you would add another mapping for it.

Thank you! the Container Path is what I was getting messed up on. I have it working now. Thank you so much for the quick response.
April 12, 20179 yr Yeah that / in the path has gotten me a few times. Don't do it very often. Btw if you have enough RAM free run transcode from /tmp that makes it run on a RAM Drive.
