CPU Stand

I've been looking at a CPU stand for my unRaid server. These servers sure get heavy when full of hard drives. My server is in the closet and I just want to make it easier to move for cleaning around the computer in addition to the usual dust bunny maintenance.

I like the Kantek Mobile CPU Stand, but I'd want to weigh my case to make sure it falls under the 60lb limit.

There is also this one.

This is one of the reasons I used a CM Stacker with built in castors.  i liked the syba

I had a CM Stacker case and it was great.  The wheels made it easy to move around.  My new case doesn't have wheels  :-[  Buying a stand made me think so I put together a shopping list.

(Home Depot or Lowes)

1 Piece of Plywood 5/8 thick (from the scrap pile)

4 Casters

16 Wood screws

;D

If you care about aesthetics you could buy some spray paint too!

The Syba is only rated to hold 30lbs. I know my server weighs more than 30lbs.

just buy 4 castors from the local hardware shop and screw theminto the bottom o fyour case where teh l ittle rubber feet are.

I've built one before (Don't know if you're handy with the tools), but I used a piece of wood (About 1000mm Length x 300mm Width x 40mm Height, basically a wood beam), bought x4 really good castor wheel from the local hardware shop, secured them onto the corners of the wood, and there you go, cheap, easy and does the job, especially for anything higher then 30Lbs/15Kgs.

Maybe go for the homegrown way the others are recommending.

I know this is a big reason I keep my CM Stacker instead of going for the Antec 1200.

The stacker has 4 casters that can be screwed into the bottom.

I have about 10 drives right now and the sucker's heavy.

If I did not have the builtin castors, I would go rack mount or home built on wood and castors.

I ended up getting the Kantek Mobile CPU Stand. It's a great stand and the price is great too. I like that it collapses and it feels very steady. The case can slide a little when pushing on carpet, but I think that can be easily Macgyver'd with some furniture pads on the stand or something.

I don't recall the brand, but I went to my local hardware store and they had some hard plasic furniture moving carts that are I'd guess 18"x24" with nice full swivle casters on them for 10 bucks.
