JorgeB
That's an old PCI controller and a very bad idea, get a PCIe controller, there are no great new choices for 4 ports, you can get an used Adaptec 1430SA for like 20$ or get an 8 port LSI controller, avoid newer Marvell controllers. rott
what do you think I should use if I want to run 8 port and a 4 port card the HDD will mostly be 2T and 3T drives used for storage of videos and pictures and some VM stuff . Thanks for the help Link to comment
JorgeB
Any LSI SAS2008 based controller, 9201-8i, 9211-8i, IBM M1015, Dell H310, etc Link to comment

SSD
There is an LSI SAS9201-16i that handles 16 internal drives, as well as a -16e that handles 16 external drives. You could get one of them and save a slot. Link to comment
rott
very expensive card I think I will buy the LSI 8 when that is filled up I will get a 4 is there a better mother board to buy that is around $100 that would benefit me for wanting to have this case full of hard drives I can use the above MB and cpu in a different box Link to comment
