August 3, 20178 yr Hi! Setup: X-Case eXtra Value RM 424 - 24 Hotswap Bays 120mm Fan Wall - Low Noise E3-1240 v2 Supermicro X9SCM-F HP 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800E ECC UDIMM 669239-581 LSI 9211-8i Corsair HX1000i Noctua NH-U9B SE2 I am building a server for Unraid use and I am not the most experience builder so I am having some problems. When I start the server everything seems to startup and stay on like it should, but i hear 4 beeps right at the beggining of the start and I can´t access bios or anything like that since i get a "No Signal" message on my screen and I Tried accessing it through IPMI and i can find the server but same problem is there when i try to open KVM Console "No Signal". Is my HP 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800E ECC UDIMM 669239-581 the right memory for this build? Or have i bought the wrong memory? Read on this site about beep codes https://www.thomas-krenn.com/en/wiki/AMI_BIOS_Beep_Codes and it says 4x short beeps = Wrong memory installed (eg. Registered when unbuffered required, or Non-ECC when ECC required) 4x beeps CPU not supported; update BIOS to support new CPU Don´t know if my beeps are long or short but tried to updating bios and I don´t have any other memory to test with. Things ive tried: Updating BIOS from 1.24 (or something) to 3.52 using IPMI since it says on the supermicro site that *** BIOS rev. 2.0 or above is needed to support new E3-1200 v2 CPUs, which supports PCI-E 3.0 & DDR3 1600. Switching around the memory to different slots Removing 9211-8i card. Resetting cmos. If you have any ideas on what I have done wrong or whats messing up the system please let me know, Thank you! What if i don't have another cpu to use is there another way of doing it?
August 3, 20178 yr Community Expert IIRC only X10/X11 support bios update using IPMI, X9 doesn't, but if it does you'll need to buy a key from Supermicro.

Just Contacted the company i bought the cpu and moderboard from, they are sending me a Celeron G530 that i can borrow and then send back just for updating my BIOS. Hope everything will work with that. Thank you so much for you help! Edited August 3, 20178 yr by Kevin111 Added some more info
