[6.3.5] False Docker container update notifications

Featured Replies

A couple times per week I get multiple emails from my unRAID server saying that "An update is available for XYZ" (where XYZ is one of the Docker containers I have running). However, when I go to the Docker tab in the unRAID management interface, even if I click the button to explicitly check for updates, the site says every Docker container is up to date.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?  It's kind of annoying to get 10+ emails overnight and find out they are bogus.

Thanks,

Dan

I've seen a few notifications of this as well in the WebUI, I'm running RC7, what about you?

Not much to go on here, but I'll take a stab at it - have you added any extra parameters like "--cpuset=0" to the "repository" field? I know that can mess up the version checking. If so, go to advanced mode and move the cpuset command to the "Extra Parameters" field.

The only other thing I can think of is are the dockers by LSIO? They update their dockers every Friday, so it can seem like you get an email shortly after doing an update (not exactly what you reported, but worth mentioning)

Just rebooted a 6.4.0-rc7a, all containers report with update ready when there are no actual updates.

I'm on 6.3.5 stable here. I only have 1 unRAID install so I always play it safe and only run the stable releases.

@ljm42 All my containers are using the standard repository field values without any additional parameters. I do have several containers using templates from LSIO as well as a few converted from Docker Hub by the Community Applications plugin.

I have 18 containers set up (14 running). I woke up this morning to 12 separate emails saying that there was an update available to a Docker container. When I went to the Docker section of the unRAID management site and clicked the "Check for Updates" button, every one of them reported that they were up to date.

Side note:

Apologies to you all for the late reply. Not sure why I didn't get email notifications of replies to my original post. Just happened to remember that I posted this after getting all those emails this morning and came back to check to see if there were any replies.

One possible explanation is that you have CA Auto Update Applications set to automatically install updates to your apps (Settings - Community Applications - AutoUpdate).  In which case the notice can be disabled via Notification Settings.

@Squid You may have nailed the issue. I do have auto update Docker containers enabled and the email notification is checked. The emails came in just after midnight last night and the auto update is set to run at 1am.

I think I'll disable the auto update for a couple weeks (I'm in my unRAID management interface often anyway) and see what happens.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Doesn't seem to be the case for me. I'm using RC8 now, I just went to unRAID and saw about 6 notifications for Docker upgrades, but then I looked at the Docker list and only saw 3 upgrades available. I do have auto-update enabled, and I just disabled the notifications for it, so lets see if it keeps happening.
