Compact Flash -> IDE adapter instead of flashkey

I have some older motherboards I would like to repurpose.

None of them seem to support booting from the flash key.

Is it possible to use a compact flash to ide adpater on the P-ATA port for unRaid?

Is it possible to use a regular IDE drive as the boot drive with a real root filesystem rather then a boot flash?

Yes you should be able to copy the unRAID s/w to another device (CF disk, hard disk, etc) and boot it.  unRAID will still need to mount a USB Flash device in order to access the 'config' directory on it.

You will need to install a boot loader on your boot device that will load the 'bzroot' file and specify 'bzimage' as an 'initrd'.  Exactly how to do this I'll leave as an exercise for the reader  :)
