November 3, 20178 yr So I tried to add a new cache drive to the array. I followed the guide but the new drive never gave the option to format. Now it is throwing this error ( cache (Samsung_SSD_840_EVO_250GB_S1DBNSAF634998V)has file system errors (Too many misplaced devices: 1) If the disk if XFS / REISERFS, stop the array, restart the Array in Maintenance mode, and run the file system checks. If the disk is BTRFS, then just run the file system checksIf the disk is listed as being unmountable, and it has data on it, whatever you do do not hit the format button. Seek assistance HERE) for both drives, even when one is removed. Need some help. Thanks!

November 4, 20178 yr I have this problem as well. I shut down my system and moved a SATA power cable, when I restarted I get a similar message. The part about just running file system check if the disk is BTRFS and listed as unmountable appears incorrect however. The option is grayed out with a message that it is only available when the array is in Maintenance Mode.

November 4, 20178 yr Community Expert First time I see this exact error, but something went wrong when you added the second device, the balance failed: Quote Nov 3 20:06:59 Server emhttp: writing MBR on disk (sdg) with partition 1 offset 64, erased: 0 Nov 3 20:07:00 Server emhttp: re-reading (sdg) partition table Nov 3 20:07:00 Server emhttp: err: mkmbr: ioctl BLKRRPART: Device or resource busy Nov 3 20:07:00 Server emhttp: shcmd (912): udevadm settle Nov 3 20:07:01 Server emhttp: shcmd (913): set -o pipefail ; /sbin/btrfs device add -f -K /dev/sdg1 /mnt/cache |& logger Nov 3 20:07:01 Server root: ERROR: /dev/sdg1 is mounted Nov 3 20:07:01 Server emhttp: err: shcmd: shcmd (913): exit status: 1 Nov 3 20:07:01 Server emhttp: shcmd (914): set -o pipefail ; /sbin/btrfs balance start -dconvert=raid1 -mconvert=raid1 /mnt/cache |& logger & Nov 3 20:07:01 Server root: ERROR: error during balancing '/mnt/cache': Invalid argument Nov 3 20:07:01 Server root: There may be more info in syslog - try dmesg | tail You then tried to add it a second time and it this time it did start a balance but it aborted with ENOSPC: Quote Nov 3 20:12:44 Server kernel: BTRFS info (device sdf1): relocating block group 2168455168 flags 1 Nov 3 20:12:44 Server kernel: BTRFS info (device sdf1): relocating block group 1094713344 flags 1 Nov 3 20:12:44 Server kernel: BTRFS info (device sdf1): relocating block group 4194304 flags 4 Nov 3 20:12:45 Server kernel: BTRFS info (device sdf1): 33 enospc errors during balance Nov 3 20:12:45 Server root: ERROR: error during balancing '/mnt/cache': No space left on device If you have important data on your cache best bet is to try to recover and then reformat, if you need to recover see here:
November 4, 20178 yr Author So im pretty sure none of my appdata was on the cache to being with and it currently says its all on disk 3. Do i just reformat both ssds then readd? And yes, ive had that disabled disk for a while and everything has been workin fine so i didnt want to mess with it lol

Add both SSDs to the pool and click format, if there's an error formatting, stop the array, and type this: blkdiscard /dev/sdX replace X with both SSDs, one at a time, then start the array and format. 9 minutes ago, navickas12 said: And yes, ive had that disabled disk for a while and everything has been workin fine so i didnt want to mess with it lol What if another disk fails?
November 4, 20178 yr Author maybe im confused. Are you talking about Disk 4? I had accidentally added the 120 sd to the array instead of cache and didnt know how to remove that line.

November 4, 20178 yr Author okay ill do that now. thank you. So i added the 2 drives, it only had me format the 120 and now its saying the pool of bothe the 120 and the 250 is only 60GB
November 4, 20178 yr Community Expert It will only show one filesystem, it should show about 185GB total space though only 120GB will be usable in the default raid1 profile.
November 4, 20178 yr Author oh so whats the point of me adding both? wouldnbt it just be better to add the 250 and take out the 120?
November 4, 20178 yr Community Expert Redundancy, if you need more usable space you can convert to single profile, it will give you 370GB usable (without redundancy), see here: https://forums.lime-technology.com/topic/46802-faq-for-unraid-v6/?do=findComment&comment=480421
November 4, 20178 yr Author So i did a new config, cleared the disabled disk and only added the 250 back. Now its saying it is btrfs but its only 448MB.
November 4, 20178 yr Author Thank you so much for all your help and incredibly rapid responses. I really appreciate it!
