Ford Prefect
Hi folks, I need to install my home unRAID into an ultra-short wall-mounted rack. Outside rack depth is 395mm/~15.5in - inside available depth for a chassis is approx 250mm/~9.8in..maybe one inch more. I wonder whether there is a 3U chassis or SATA Backplane somewhere to buy or to build (4 holding the drives) - or a 4U chassis to mount the MoBo on top of the 3U drives setup - with that depth? Alternatively an enclosure where one could mount some standard (i.e. 5x3.5 in 3x5.25) backplanes? TIA, fred Link to comment
DocBlock
Depending on your space, you may be able to use something like this to give yourself some breathing room: http://www.rackmountsolutions.net/Standoff_Rack_Extender.asp We used these in two post racks so that the servers were more centered in the two-post racks. Also, I've recently been shopping for chassis, and ran across this on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811165211 It's the shortest depth I've seen that would still accommodate hot swap disks easily. Thanks for your kind and fast response, DocBlock. I am actually using a real cabinet...sorry for not being specific enough, but English is not my native tongue. So extending it is not an option, i am afraid. ...the cabinet is 12U and my first version will start with mounting an ICY-Dock 5-in-3-SATA Backplane onto a 250mm depth tray/shelf. The ITX MoMo will go into a Supermicro 1U chassis Link to comment
