Pa`zpaz
Hi, I have been trying to figure out why my systems hangs. It is a new setup, with new drives. It will loose network connection so the web GUI is not responsive, I can't SSH into it with putty (network error: connection timed out), the monitor shows the login screen (no errors) and the keyboard is not responsive. I can't get it to replicate as sometimes it will hang when creating the parity drive or when idle with the array active. The longest the server has run for is 1.5hrs without freezing. The furthest I have seen the parity get is 16%. I have removed a raid card, checked all the cables, completed a memtest with 0 errors, tried 2 different parity disks. The logs don't show any errors. Any help would be really appreciated. Cheers! pazserver-diagnostics-20171217-2142.zip Edited December 17, 2017 by Pa`zpaz spelling Quote Link to comment
Squid
Nothing of relevance in the logs. Anything show up if you attach a monitor to the system? Other possibilities could be power supply issues, BIOS updates, etc. Very remote possibilities are microcode updates to the i5 which upgrading to 6.4 might fix. Quote Link to comment
Pa`zpaz
Thanks for the suggestions. I have updated to 6.4 rc16b and it still froze everything. The monitor showed the login line. I have now logged in with a keyboard and input tail /var/log/syslog -f to see where it freezes. But I decided to update my bios since I was at the server and it seems to be working so far, 22% through a parity build and 2.5 hours uptime, so i'm doing better than previous attempts. Pa`zpaz
Issue looks to be related to a BIOS update. Thanks a bunch! Quote Link to comment
