Backup

Featured Replies

I do see the Crashplan thread but I am still confused.  I am currently using Crashplan to backup about 2 TB of data.  With that going away does anybody have any easy suggestions that are free or low cost for a new alternative with Crashplan home going away?  I was hoping to find something somewhat easy to use also.

Thanks in advance, Mike.

If you have a Linux box you can try Backupppc for machine to machine backups.  I'm using it to backup 2 Windows PCs and my UnRaid tower to my Ubuntu PC.

Thanks for info.  I am looking for an off site backup location also though, like Crashplan had.

I use backblaze b2 for off site backups (fairly cheap) and Duplicati (free). Duplicati is still in beta, but works fairly well and there is an unRAID docker for it. YMMV

I have a secondary PC with an i5 4460 with an 8TB ironwolf nas HDD, I use windows server 2016 and mapped all the folders from my unRAID to it.

I use FreeSync to sync all folders to their designated folders locally.

So... wgstarks - you have Duplicati backing up to backblaze b2?

Yes. Works fairly well. Duplicati has a few bugs though. Don’t set a password as login will fail. Browsing the backup can also be a little slow. I would recommend you try it out with some small backups before deciding if it will work for you.
