DannyC
Hi, I have some data on a vdisk that I would like to recover but the original xml files that describe the systems setting I no longer have (for some reason unraid thought I was a good idea to delete this data after I added another cache drive which is weird). However, i do have the img files from when the VM were made 1. is a centos owncloud box (default file system ext4 i think) 2. Gitlab box ubuntu again default file system (ext4 i think) Any help in aiding to recover the data would be most valuable Happy to provide more info if required Link to comment
JorgeB
You can just recreate the VMs with similar settings and point to the existing vdisks, for the future you should backup libvirt.img, that's where the XMLs are stored. Link to comment
DannyC
so, in other words, reinstall owncloud and gitlab and add the vdisk which had the information as a 2nd hard drive? Link to comment
JorgeB
No, I was saying use as the main vdisks, as long as the main settings are the same it should work, but if it doesn't using them as 2nd vdisks in a new VM just to recover the data is also an option. Link to comment
