Is this UPS over kill

Featured Replies

You need to factor in that you mill HAVE to replace the batteries every 3 years.  So a larger unit with more runtime will cost more to refurb.

No matter what anyone tells you, replace the batteries every 3 years.  Stick a label on the front with the battery install and replacement date... so every time you see it, you will be reminded --- "Oh yea... I got to replace those batteries in  ____ months."

Do NOT trust the weekly tests of the UPS.  The only legitimate test is a full run-down test.  Do one of those periodically too.

I this UPS over kill for unraid?  I have a Norco 4220 case NOT filled yet and a 650 PSU.  I am looking for a rackmount UPS that won't break the bank.

One factor you might consider is that both of those UPS have fans that make a LOT of noise when running.  Some UPS shut the fans down when idle, at least one I have here does not.  Ask first from somebody who has the same unit to be sure you are not expecting it to be quiet when it is not.

Either of those would power the unRAID server with style.  (I've used the non-rack-mount equivalents)

I wish they would make the non rack mount ups's rack mountable, would be a lot cheaper

They are... a piece of 3/4 inch plywood, a couple of steel angle irons, and you can make a shelf to fit in your rack that will hold just about any non-rack UPS.

I just put rltwo of my UPS on the bottom shelf in the back. Way cheaper than rack mounting it.
