ToXIc
hi group i've been to the plex forum but it seems like its an issue with my servers docker setup. on certain devices i get the following error i've read thread setting up a HD location for this and some others mentioning that its done in RAM.. can someone look at my config and lend a hand as to which way to go? david279
I don't see a path setup for transcoding in the picSent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk Quote Link to comment
ToXIc
i've seen that mentioned in other threads but i dont have it.. is it a field that users put it or is it suppose to be from the docker install? can you share a screen shot of yours. Quote Link to comment
david279
I use the official Plex docker but this is how mine is setup. I have my transcode path on a unassigned disk. I had it setup on RAM(/tmp/) but I found watching live TV would fill up my RAM.Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk Quote Link to comment
ToXIc
thanks for the screen shot.. i've add it in there but it still wont transcode i may have to look up swapping to the docker from plexinc <- that is the official one correct? Quote Link to comment

ashman70
Found this thread over in the Plex forums, which is probably the best place to post this question. What kinds of media are on your server? avi, mp4 etc? I stick to MKV which doesn't require a codec like AVI files do and there are quite a number of different codec unfortunately. https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/244822/conversion-failed-a-required-codec-could-not-be-found-or-failed-to-install-a-bad-update Quote Link to comment
ToXIc
its all uncompressed mkv.. on my openPHT client it plays fine, but remotely and in the webclient its been having issues. Quote Link to comment
ashman70
Dunno, could be a config problem, or something else, post your logs in the plex.tv forums, someone will likely be able to help you out. Quote Link to comment

Katherine
You can use -v to define the path in Extra Parameters if you are using the LinuxServer docker. Quote Link to comment
ToXIc
i was using the linuxserver docker but just switched to the official. i can see the codec being downloaded but some still not transcoding. Quote Link to comment
