June 7, 20188 yr Can't mount old array data disk in unassigned devices. To move to new array. Any assistance much appreciated
June 9, 20188 yr Author hmm no luck. im going to rebuild a new server this weekend and ill try mount when iv finished setup.
June 11, 20188 yr Author hmm so i have a brand new Hardware/config Unraid server and im still unable to mount the xfs disk from my old Unraid box . would this have something to do with HPA or is it just a coincidence? Any help on this is much appreciate as data on the disk is important. Edited June 11, 20188 yr by 666gene
June 11, 20188 yr Community Expert The HPA should be irrelevant as far as mounting it. it is possible that there is some sort of file system level corruption and you need to run xfs_repair to fix this.
June 11, 20188 yr Author would this be what your refering to @itimpi https://lime-technology.com/wiki/Check_Disk_Filesystems#Preparing_to_test
June 11, 20188 yr Author am i doing this right? i read that im better to run this on the volume rather than the device. https://lime-technology.com/forums/topic/38408-bad-primary-superblock-bad-magic-number
June 11, 20188 yr Community Expert Those ATA errors indicate a connection or disk problem, can you post a SMART report for that disk?
June 11, 20188 yr Author not sure i can. from the GUI. Does this info help? seems SMART support in disabled... im sure the disk was fine when in the array running for 2 years. should i enable option -s?
June 11, 20188 yr Community Expert If you decide you must run xfs_repair against the device rather than the mdX type device then you need to include the partition number(e.g. /dev/sdg1). Note that running xfs_repair against the sdX type devices rather than in Maintenance mode against the mdX devices) will always invalidate parity. Edited June 11, 20188 yr by itimpi

June 12, 20188 yr Community Expert SMART looks mostly fine, try mounting after connecting it to a different controller with a new cable.
June 12, 20188 yr Author I have a raid controler that I'm gonna flash I can try it's on its way. But it's a whole new system and it's only this disk. Other 2 mount ok.
