RAID performance

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am aware that Unraid stores data by filling disks 1 by 1, I mean, not in a stripping method. I wanted to know if is there any config or plan for unraid to make storages with any stripping method like the real RAID5 so that performance can be increased on read tasks for example in case we want it.

Kind regards,

Pedro

Not in the main array, but you are free to experiment with BTRFS RAID levels in the cache pool. It's RAID1 by default, but you can specify any valid BTRFS RAID profile.

You could assign a single device to the first data slot, then populate the rest of your drives into the cache pool.

Note that the more advanced Btrfs multi-disk schemes aren't really commercial-grade.
