VM Windows 7 OVMF won't boot

Featured Replies

I am trying to setup a Windows 7 VM with a GTX1080 GPU. Unfortunatelly with SeaBios the GPU does not work in the VM. As I understand it, the GTX1080 is only capable of UEFI boot.

When I try to setup VM with OVMF, the installation process hangs on starting windows. I have tried cirrus VNC and GTX1080 as first GPU, but all hangs.

I tryed safe mode while booting from the Win7 ISO and it stops with classpnp.sys

I have all ISOs attached as SATA and fx440-2.11 machine (also tried Q35)

Is it possible to run win7 VM with the new GPUs?

Eventhough the windows 7 has some UEFI support, the OVMF bios used with Unraid does not support windows 7, as stated in documentation. I switched for windows 10, because it would be too much pain to try with patched OVMF.
