August 30, 20187 yr Hi All, I am new to unraid and was trying to make an SMB share.. 1. I had an issue to where even a public share is asking me a password. 2. Even if I use my root login / created user the password is not accepted by the server ( using the windows explorer with //ip of the server/ ) it is stating that it is not accessible and to contact administrator. It is also stating that multiple connections is not allowed. 3. I slept for about 6 hrs and tried to access and it did! 4. Thinking that everything is working fine already, I made that particular folder private and my issue started happening again. 5. I tried to create another public share still ask back to my original problem.. I am using 8tb he8 SAS drives. I was able to pre clear and format it. It does spin down. Any thoughts? Under the assumption that you are trying to access the shares from a Windows computer via SMB, I suggest you start by entering the Windows Credential Manager and deleting all stored credentials that have anything to do with the unRAID server/shares. After that, try to access the share again. Edited August 30, 20187 yr by Hoopster

But does it mean if windows is asking my username and password that i already removed my credentials?

It could mean that the credentials that are stored did not work, so it is asking you to enter them again and then it still does not work because authentication is messed up. Windows networking/SMB/authentication, especially on WIndows 10 has all sorts of issues and weirdness these days. There are many threads in these forums about these issues. Reading the thread below could give you some ideas where to look to identify the issue and resolve it:

August 31, 20187 yr Community Expert Welcome to the wonderful world of SMB weirdness. I have often said that more SMB problems are solved by Witchcraft than by any other method.

You say witchcraft, I say Voodoo. I keep chickens on hand ready to sacrifice to the SaMBa Voodoo spirits. Alternatively, you could try this Samba Voodoo dance: Edited September 1, 20187 yr by Hoopster
