Drives go offline during user share scan?

Featured Replies

I was writing to a drive in my unraid system and not thinking about it, I clicked on rescan under user share while the write was still going on.  As soon as I did, I got an error in the transfer window saying that the share was no longer available?  Is this just an unavoidable fact or is this a bug?

Same thing happens to me. I would THINK the rescan would just rebuild the user shares (as implied by the feature name) but it takes all the shares offline. I was in the middle of ripping a DVD to \\mediasrva\disk1\movies and, like you, did a rescan of the user shares and BOOM, time to start over ripping the DVD.

Yes 'rescan' takes the server off-line, rebuilds the share tree, and then re-exports all the shares.  The 'rescan' function is just a band-aid until full writeable user shares appear in 4.1.
