NewDisplayName
Hi, so i got a new mainboard bc i want to upgrade my RAM. (old was PRO BTC asus) OFC the new mainboard (ASRock B85M DASH/OL R2.0 Intel B85 So.1150 Dual Channel DDR3 mATX Retail) also dont allow more RAM (even it said that), PC just keeps restarting. Will try new bios for that tho. Anyway. Via Display i can see it hangs at starting SMB forever... doing one speed test. Mysteriosly VM and dockers are startet tho, ssh also not working... Any idea? NewDisplayName
NVM. since its new mainboard (new NIC) it got a new IP... lol. Still im not sure why it doesnt take 32gb as it states. As soon as i add the other RAM sticks it wont boot. The handbook says something about ram "(please look at ATTENTION)" (where there is no ATTENTION i can see written anywhere) Online i only found that dual channel will only work with same brand and same sticks. But still i have 2 sets a 2 sticks. and was putting them in like descriped, still not working... (from my understanding it still should boot, but without dual channel...?!) Its a bios from like 1720, im very sad the other mainboard had a nice online flash ability (even it didnt work xD), this not... since there is no changelog and i cant find a compatibilty list of ram modules, this is very annoying. Any recommedations to get this working? like setting speed lower? does that change anything? Old RAM is: 2x PV316G160c9kbl Patriot 16GB(2x8GB) Viper III DDR3 1600MHz (PC3 12800) CL9 Desktop Memory With Black Mamba Heatsink - PV316G160C9K New ram is: 2x 8GB Corsair ValueSelect DDR3-1600 DIMM CL11-11-11-30 Single Are different timings a problem??? may it be a idea to set timing fixxed to the highest timing? NewDisplayName
If i only install one set of one brand, yes. It does multiple restarts tho, so i guess mb resets after chaning ram!? to adjust to the different timings maybe? If i set it to lowest fix, maybe both work? what you think? (to highest timings ofc) Link to comment
JorgeB
You can try, but the bios should auto detect the timings and configure it all. Link to comment
NewDisplayName
I found out that the new sticks wont work at all, atleast not in dual channel. Even after bios upgrade. Sending them back. Buying the same i currently have running again. (But different color, i hope thats no problem... xD) Link to comment
