December 6, 20187 yr Community Expert Hi All This is not a critical issue as the machine is still working at the moment... but I wanted to see if there is a reason for this. I have a production UnRAID machine which is in a datacenter. It is an HP DL380p G8 machine with a P420i controller, 1Gb FWBC cache and 8 x 500Gb SAS disks. Anyway last Friday the cahce module indicated it had failed. So I duly ordered a new one. Then a few hours later it told me that a disk in the array had failed. Instinctively I thought the worst, but since then the machine has remained up and UnRAID has done its job while I am waiting for the new HDD to arrive. Anyway, while nosing around, I noticed that the HP ILO says that the disk is in predictive failure - but hasnt failed yet... however UnRAID is showing the disk as disabled - so I am curious why UnRAID doesnt consider the SMART information but keep using the disk until its failed? Any thoughts? Oh, BTW... I am using UnRAID 6.6.5 Plus. Thanks in advance
December 6, 20187 yr Community Expert If Unraid disabled the disk it's because there was a write error, SMART is used for info only, not to enable or disable disks.
