sgraham884
I am in the process of updating my server. I have some new drives to add and I want to add a larger parity drive. Is there any reason i can't do this at the same time? Or do I have to add the larger parity, let it rebuild, then add the new drives and rebuild parity again? Thanks in advance. Link to comment
JonathanM
If you are confident that all your current drives are perfectly healthy, there is no reason not to set a new config and assign all the drives to the slots you want. As long as you don't accidentally assign a drive with data to a parity slot, all data will be preserved. When you start the array for the first time after assigning all the drives, unraid will prompt you to format all the blank drives. REVIEW THAT LIST CAREFULLY. If there are any of the drives that should have existing data on that list, DON'T SELECT THE FORMAT CHECKBOX. Post back here for further instructions. Link to comment
