January 25, 20197 yr Community Expert You are having a problem with the flash drive. Probably the USB port it is using is disconnecting. Try another port. USB2 ports are more reliable.
January 26, 20197 yr Author Thanks. Will try...I feel like I remember reading this somewhere b4 but I can't uses a SATA based SSD for my OS drive can I?

January 26, 20197 yr Author Just now, Squid said: Nope. You must use a flash drive. Are you able to explain why that is? (Sorry I am a linux dummie) Also is this planed to change in the future? Also is there a chance that the flash drive itself is corrupt? and thank you guys for the help.
January 26, 20197 yr 4 minutes ago, rbh00723 said: Are you able to explain why that is? Primary reason would be due to piracy. Vast majority of flash drives have a unique GUID that allows unRaid to only run as a time-limited trial or on the paid version. Plus, why would you invest say $100 on an OS drive that's only used during boot up. 4 minutes ago, rbh00723 said: Also is there a chance that the flash drive itself is corrupt? Sure it's possible (but also unlikely). You can toss the flash drive into another computer and run the file system checks on it. Generally speaking, USB2 sticks and ports work the best (and have zero performance problems since unRaid operates completely from RAM) Edited January 26, 20197 yr by Squid

The OS isn't installed to the flash drive. The archives that install the OS are on the flash drive, and the OS is installed into RAM at each boot.
