number-one
Hello Can I install unRaid os on an ide hard disk instead of a usb key ? Quote Link to comment
hypyke
Nope. For several reasons, one of which is the anti-piracy measures which require it to be run from a USB drive with a unique serial number. Quote Link to comment
bubbaQ
It could be installed and run from HD and still look at the GIUD on the flash drive as copy protection. And the free version (up to 3 drives) doesn't employ such copy protection so it certainly could be installable to a HD. unRAID would be much more versatile and useful if it could be installed as a package on Slackware running from a HD. parsec
I agree that it could be nice to run Unraid as part of a Slackware server. But I will put it near the bottom of the wishlist, as there are tons of features I would like to have before a HD-Unraid. /Rene Quote Link to comment
hypyke
It could be installed and run from HD That just invites questions like "How do I do that?" You can't do it and be in compliance with the wishes of the author or the license of the software, at this time. Is it potentially possible? Of course. Just don't want this thread to turn into an "it should, why doesn't it" discussion. Quote Link to comment
