March 3, 20197 yr Hi, My unraid usb has recently died, completely dead and can't access anything on it. Sadly, my backup is on the array itself (I feel like a complete idiot) What would be the safest way to setup a new config without harming any of the data? I have over 14TB of personal files.
March 3, 20197 yr If the array is not encrypted you can acces then through a Linux liveUSB, i'm not sure how to acces a encrypted disk...
March 3, 20197 yr Author I'll give that a shot. Only issue is the array config is old and I have added a few drives since then.
March 3, 20197 yr Tools - New Config Main Tab - Assign all drives as data drives. Start the array. Your parity drive(s) will come up as unformatted / unmountable. If more drives come up as unformatted / unmountable than you have parity disks, then stop and post your diagnostics and wait before doing anything else. Reassign those drives as the parity disks. (Another new config) * if you do have 2 parity drives, then you have to toss a coin as to which is which Edited March 3, 20197 yr by Squid

March 4, 20197 yr Author I managed to narrow down the parity drive, started array and all the data is here.
March 4, 20197 yr Community Expert You can download a zipped copy of your flash drive at any time by going to Main - Boot Device - Flash - Flash Backup. If you want to have CA Backup automatically backup flash, you should use a destination that is not on the array using Unassigned Devices. Some people use UD to access networks shares on another computer, for example. I have an NTFS Unassigned Device I use for my flash backup. I can always just plug it into Windows and read its files.
