March 26, 20197 yr Hi all, I have a windows 10 VM where I am passing through two USB devices on through the VM Editor (unraid 6.6.6). Occasionally and without any trend the mouse will just stop working. I also have a keyboard that has been passthrew (?) and it seems to be fine. My temporary fixes have been, stop the VM and restart it. The mouse will function again until it stops. Or I have used a plugin that will attach/detach USB peripherals on the fly with a VM that is already running. Then the mouse will get back up and running. However, this is a pain because the VM is used directly on the server, not through a remote desktop. I'm not sure if any other people are experiencing this or if a fix is known. My googlefu didn't turn up really anything (besides the plugin that will temporarily resolve the issue). The mouse is a Logitech G602 if that matters. Any log files you might need let me know and I can attach them. Thanks!
March 26, 20197 yr @15goudreau Try changing the power plan inside the VM to high performance. Could be possible that for power saving reasons USB devices will be turned off temporarily in other power plans and your device won't wake up unless the VM restarts.
March 26, 20197 yr Author I will double check but I am fairly certain that it is already in high performance mode
March 26, 20197 yr Author Just double checked it is on high performance with usb selective hibernation set to off and the same with PCI controllers. =(
March 26, 20197 yr Maybe try to change the USB port the mouse is plugged in. Try a USB 2 port if you have available. Wouldn't be the first time a USB3 or 3.1 controller has issues
March 27, 20197 yr This is likely either an issue with usb interference- that can be solved by a choke on the cable, or it's the power settings on the mouse in device manager. Logitech mice are really sensitive to electrical interference- others here have had similar issues.
March 27, 20197 yr Author I'll check the device manager to see if it allows something different than the general power settings in Windows. Can you elaborate what you mean by a choke on the cable?
March 27, 20197 yr https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choke_(electronics)#/media/File:Ferrite_bead_no_shell.jpg It's just a ring that goes around a usb cable to prevent interference. Similar issue here: Edited March 27, 20197 yr by jordanmw
March 27, 20197 yr Yeah- most people have had to add a USB extender- and sometimes even that fixes the issue- if you read anything from that thread.....
March 27, 20197 yr Author Interesting. So the keyboard is a logitech unifying remote which works fine..... so maybe an extender with choke is the way to go. I will look into sourcing parts. Thanks for that link, I missed it the first time you posted it.
