July 21, 20196 yr Author dont tell me I have to set the "Use Cache Disk" in the share settings. This is huge files (Movies) share so it has to reside exclusively on the array, not the cache. My understanding of a cache drive is as follow no matter how the share is configured: Client file -> Server cache -> Server storage

My understanding of a cache drive is as follow no matter how the share is configured: Client file -> Server cache -> Server storage No. If a share is not configured to use the cache drive then the file is written directly to the array by-passing the cache drive! If you have the share set as Use Cache = Yes, then the file is initially written to the cache drive, and later when mover runs (typically scheduled to run overnight) it is moved to the array.
