nerbonne
I've been having issues with slow performance on my unRaid system. I started shutting down apps, mainly qbittorrent. Then I noticed that even with all apps off except Plex, the cache drive, which is a 500Gb SSD, is being written to at about 6-10 MB/s. Only a few KB/s of reads and the array isn't doing anything. This goes on constantly. Doesn't seem like this can be right? How can I see what is being written? Quote Link to comment
itimpi
You could try installing the File Activity plugin. Have you tried stopping Plex to see if that is the culprit? Quote Link to comment
nerbonne
File Activity plugin doesn't show any activity. When I stop Plex, the cache drive goes silent. So I guess it's Plex. But what does that mean? Quote Link to comment

nerbonne
Generate video preview thumbnails was and is set to "never". Quote Link to comment
nerbonne
Seems like it was the specific Plex that I was using. I was using the official plex app. I removed it and installed the linuxserver.io plex app, now there is no more excessive cache writing. Quote Link to comment

Did the new version of plex accept the old appdata or did you do a fresh install? I wouldn't want to manually edit my watch history and customizations... Quote Link to comment
