November 28, 201015 yr Not sure whats going on with the hub, Ive had the live plus working prior with no issues. However something seems to have gone wrong with this hub or am i missing something here. What I'm trying to find out basically if anyone here is using the hub and if they are having any issues. I could see the server (TOWER) but no files, could this be some kind of sharing issues.
December 2, 201015 yr Author 97 views and no one I guess i bought the wrong streamer.......... So what are you guys using to stream from unraid servers
December 2, 201015 yr I'm using the WDTV Live...the latest firmware has some weird SMB issues. Detection of unRAID is not immediate everytime, but it will connect and can play using SMB. What is your network setup? Edit: Maybe if you post over here it may help... http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Hub/WD-TV-Live-Hub-It-can-t-see-shared-drives/td-p/73406
December 2, 201015 yr Author My network is simple, from my cable modem...........I have a belkin 4port 10/100 wireless router handling DHCP......>1 port use for uplink to a 8 port Gigabit trendnet TEG-S80g unmanage switch....>Then i have my win7 pc, unraid server, WDLTV HUB and network printer all in the trendnet. I am out of ideas, I've been over at the WD forum but according to the more experience folks, they said its my unraid box but i am a little skeptical on that because i had the live+ working fine until i got the HUB
December 3, 201015 yr not sure whats different with WD Live HUB. Can you try to connect through Ip address instead of the server name?
December 3, 201015 yr Author Unfortunately the HUB does not allow you to manually point it to a location in the case of using an IP address vs the name, it does it automatically. The crazy thing about all this, is that on my WIN 7 machine i can see the HUB and the contents on the internal HDD, delete, transfer file also stream the 2 movies from the HUB i transfer there and watch them on my WIN 7 machine. On the wife VISTA machine i can also see the HUB. I can also access media on my WIN 7 from the HUB. But when it comes to seeing the server from the HUB...No joy Strange Strange!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 3, 201015 yr another longshot. But maybe you can disable DFS support in unraid (The WD live hubs is also nothing more than a linux embedded, seeing that some linux have problem with connecting to share that has DFS on) disable DFS http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3805.msg33291#msg33291
December 3, 201015 yr I had similar problems with my WDTV Live Hub, I finally returned it. I also had problems seeing TOWER from the network. I didn't spend much time debugging it and I think it's because my WDTV uses WORKGROUP and TOWER uses MSGROUP. Mostly I returned it because I was shocked at how it treated my other server (MACPRO). Basically it got a list of content on my Mac and cached it, only problem is, it never seems to update it. So you can't just add to it and expect to see it when you pull up the list next time. IMHO this makes the whole thing INSANELY WORTHLESS. To get it to see new files you have to reset network settings. Good riddance. I have my old WD TV Live HD that I'm still using. I love it, and it has no problems reading from any of my shares/servers including unraid. The WDTV Live HD Plus is basically the same as the Hub without the local storage (who cares when you have unraid?) and you don't get the new UI (which doesn't work anyway).
December 3, 201015 yr Yeah, I don't see why anyone with unRAID would bother with this over the Live or Live Plus. For that kind of money, you could get into a Boxee box, which also has some teething issues but has a lot more potential. It's pretty, and it's nice that they upgraded the GUI from the rather basic one on the Live, but that doesn't justify the cost difference, and the 1TB of storage is completely meaningless when you have a media server already. I'm sure it's got better hardware in there than the Live, but they will probably have a second generation Live with the updated GUI and hardware but without the storage at some point.
December 4, 201015 yr Author another longshot. But maybe you can disable DFS support in unraid (The WD live hubs is also nothing more than a linux embedded, seeing that some linux have problem with connecting to share that has DFS on) disable DFS http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3805.msg33291#msg33291 Want to say thanks to all that tried to help me out with this headache :'( Tried the solutions from this thread---->http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3805.msg33291#msg33291 Still same problem. i also download and apply JoeL solution still no joy. I just pack it back in the box its going back. I might not be able to bring back (pass return period) if not i will put it on fleabay or craigslist, and just cut my losses and move on. I'm looking at the new PCH A-210 coming 12/13/10 will see what the first adopters have to say thou before i dive in. Regards
December 26, 201015 yr I found that turning media library off, turning the computer on and turning network share on and then off and then retyping the workgroup name in would get the unraid to show up in the network share spot if it disappeared. I'm thinking about ditching the wdtv live hub because of a different problem. I can't play mkv's created using mkvmerge and clown_bd on the WDTV Live Hub if they have Dolby True HD and they are being streamed over the network, either from my unraid server or my computer. The mkv's play fine if played from the hub's internal hard drive. The M2TS versions of the movies play fine over the network. Mkv's with DTS MA stream fine. All stream fine to my Dune D1 as well. The problem seems to be only with mkv's with Dolby True HD streamed to the WDTV Live Hub.
