DigitalFuture
A couple of years ago, I made the mistake of setting-up an Open Media Vault server for our small business shared storage. What a huge mistake. I desperately need to move off of OMV and it looks like unRAID is the best option for us, but I am hoping that I can move our existing 12TB of ext4 storage over to unRAID without being forced to wipe the data. Is that possible, or am I dreaming? Quote Link to comment
trurl
Unraid must format any disk it will use in parity array or cache pool. If these are individual ext4 disks you can access their data with Unassigned Devices plugin and copy the data to the array then reuse the disk. Do you have backups or anything important and irreplaceable? Quote Link to comment
DigitalFuture
Thanks for the reply. Yes, there are important backups on the drives. The drives are currently in a RAID5 configuration, so I am going to have to move the data anyway. I don't know why I thought differently. Time to buy some more drive capacity. Quote Link to comment
