Polhub
Replacing a spinner with an SSD. The new drive shows in unassigned devices but the format button is grayed out. I re-seated the drive and rebooted with the same results. Edited January 12, 2020 by Polhub Quote Link to comment
Squid
What are you trying to do? Use it as an unassigned device or use it as a replacement for the cache drive? If the former, you probably need to enable destructive mode in UD's settings. If the latter, then you need to stop the array and assign it as the cache drive... Quote Link to comment
Polhub
Nope, I did not have SSD trim installed. All is well now thank you. Quote Link to comment

While I'm glad that you've sorted out whatever problem you had, SSD Trim not being installed wouldn't have had anything to do with it. Quote Link to comment
Polhub
All I know is after I installed Unassigned Devices Plus and SSD Trim the format button worked. Thanks for the info. Quote Link to comment
