OfficeSubmarine
I currently have an unraid server set up using an old i7-930 with 6GB of ram. Someone has hooked me up with an old IBM 7947 with 2 E5640s and more ram. It has an LSI 9200-E SAS card to connect to an external disk array. I'd like to transfer over my current installation/setup but I'd like to test the hardware first to make sure the SAS hard is set to IT mode or won't just destroy my drives before I move all my disks to the new external array and plug it all in together. Does anyone have any advice on how to do it? Do i just leave the disks in the old machine and plug the OS usb into the new one and run it with no drives to start or will that break the current array somehow? Or do I make a trial OS setup and run the new server with that to test it out? Any advice would really be appreciated. Quote Link to comment

OfficeSubmarine
No just an extra SSD I was going to add as a second cache drive. Quote Link to comment
