December 5, 201015 yr I know this is a common issue for macs, and I thought I read somewhere that there was a fix for it. On one of my Win 7 machines (not my HTPC, but my desktop pc), http:\\tower doesn't work. Is there a fix for this? On a somewhat related issue (and maybe this is really the larger issue)...I can't access my server through the "TOWER" folder in the Network directory. It shows up there, but when I click on it I get this error: 0x80070035 "Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. However, if I navigate to \\10.0.1.21 (my server's IP), I can access all the files. any ideas?
December 5, 201015 yr First, just to make sure we're not dealing with something really simple: you're inputting http://tower and not http:\\tower, right? Second, have you tried to ping your unraid server from the affected PC? Try both to ping http://tower and the server's IP address. You may have an IP address conflict between the PC and the server.
December 5, 201015 yr Author yeah, sorry I'm an idiot lol I meant http://tower (go me ) I have pinged both. I get a response when I ping the IP address, but not if I ping the tower. May also want to note, I'm not having this issue with the HTPC.
December 6, 201015 yr did you try setting the tower as local master browser?? then reboot all computers and routers...
December 6, 201015 yr On the windows box that is having problems open a command prompt and type nbtstat -c You should get back something similar to Local Area Connection: Node IpAddress: [192.168.1.100] Scope Id: [] NetBIOS Remote Cache Name Table Name Type Host Address Life [sec] ------------------------------------------------------------ TOWER <00> UNIQUE 192.168.1.51 600 if tower is in the cache which it probably won't be. You can try doing ipconfig /flushdns nbtstat -R to make sure you resolver caches are clear, then try pinging again ping tower If it resolves, great; if not you may have to set the unRAID box to the master browser on the network or worst case, resort to using a hosts file. More details on hosts file is available here.
December 6, 201015 yr Author I assume to use the hosts file solution that the server has to be set to a static ip
December 6, 201015 yr I assume to use the hosts file solution that the server has to be set to a static ip It does not have to be but it is the best way to use the hosts file.
December 6, 201015 yr Author Issue fixed....had to change some configurations within my LAN (big mess, but it's all better now).
