New User; Drives Not Showing?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm building my first Unraid server and I put three 3tb drives in but they're not appearing as options for the array. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. I've tried researching it on my own and am getting nowhere. The drives show in BIOS and in the system devices show like this:

[0:0:0:0]disk Kingston DataTraveler 2.0 1.00 /dev/sda 15.5GB

[11:0:0:0]disk SEAGATE DKS2D-H3R0SS 4F0D /dev/sdc -

[11:0:1:0]disk SEAGATE DKS2D-H3R0SS 4F0D /dev/sdd -

[11:0:2:0]disk SEAGATE DKS2D-H3R0SS 4F0D /dev/sde -

syslog attached.. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Feb 18 20:11:49 Tower kernel: sd 11:0:0:0: [sdc] Unsupported sector size 520.

Unraid doesn't support a 520byte sector size, you can reformat the disks to 512byte sectors with sg3_utils

Thank you, all drives are formatting to 512 now. I’ll know if it worked in about 10 hours I guess but I’m sure you’re right.

Have you formatted them yet within unRaid to XFS?

Yes, I did all three at the same time. One went properly and the other two didn't.  I tried a couple additional times, too and nothing changed.

tower-diagnostics-20200219-2108.zipUgh. Well, while trying to self-diagnose and troubleshoot this, I managed to make one of the drives that was showing "No File system" now shows "Unmountable: Unsupported partition layout"...

Don't know what's causing that, but it's not a software problem, try updating LSI firmware, though doubt it's that.
