RulesOfImgur
so i just started my first ever array. it is currently 3 4TB WD red drives (disk 1 and 2) and the third is a parity drive. 8tb is a good size for now but if i want to ever expand this in the future would it be possible to add another disk to the array without erasing the data on the drives? im brand new to this whole thing so im not sure if or how this is possible. trurl
Yes you can add disks and it won't do anything to the existing data on other disks. The disks can even be different sizes, but each data disk can be no larger than the parity disk. You can also get more capacity by replacing a disk with a larger disk and Unraid will rebuild the data of the replaced disk onto that larger disk. Quote Link to comment
