March 30, 20206 yr Hi all, I’ve been going through the manual and forums, but haven’t really found an answer to my questions yet. During the last week i have been configuring my tower with 1x2tb and SSD cache. The 2tb is empty, and all docker and VM lives on my SSD (i uset the mover function) Tomorrow I will get a ton of HDDs, and the 2tb have to go. How do i replace the 2tb drive with the new drives and at the same time migrate from xfs to btrfs?
March 30, 20206 yr Tools, new config. Assign drives as you wish. Settings, disk settings, default file system. If your cache drive is currently xfs and you wish to change that, you will need to move the data elsewhere before reformatting.
March 31, 20206 yr Author Thanx! Last question: if I’m gonna build a new array with my new disks (as stated above) - do i need pre clear the disks beforehand - or can I let Unraid start my array after the format?
March 31, 20206 yr Community Expert Unraid only requires a clear disk when adding a disk to a new slot in an array that already has valid parity. This is so parity will remain valid. Some people use preclear for testing disks, but Unraid does not require clear disks in your situation.
