R-No
Hello, Is it possible to change the physical location (and different physical connector/controller) without affecting the array? For example: I have a 4-bay, front access enclosure as well as 6 additional internal bays in my server. I am planning to replace the drives in the 4-bay enclosure and removing all other drives. Can I move (one by one) the drives from the 4-bay enclosure and replace them with a new drive? One of them is my parity drive that I will replace. Thanks! Arno Quote Link to comment
Squid
Yes. No worries there. Only caveat is if you happen to be using a RAID card still set to IR mode and if you move from a SATA port to the raid card's port. Then the serial number of the drive will most likely change which will break the array. Quote Link to comment
R-No
I purchased an LSI in IT mode, but how can I tell if my onboard SuperMicro card is in IT mode or not? Quote Link to comment
Squid
Generally if the serial numbers it's reporting on the Main tab looks basically the same as what the LSI shows Quote Link to comment
Squid
Worst comes to worst, you do a New Config, keep the parity slots and when starting the array state that Parity is already valid Quote Link to comment
