Is Promise Ultra100 "New TX2 Version" still ok to use?

Featured Replies

I finally managed to track down some Promise controller cards here in the UK, howvere now they have arrived the box states "New TX2 Version".  Will these still be ok for an unraid server?  I'm trying to make sure I have obtained all the relevant hardware before buying a USB key.

Thanks,

Mark.

They are probably ok.  There should be a sticker on the large chip which indicates it's f/w revision, tell me what it says.

The Promise Ultra133 TX2's are ok as well.

Thanks for the quick response....

Chip has PDC20268 printed on it.

Sticker says "v2.20.0.15"

Are these ok?

Yes.  That's the latest (and final) f/w rev for this card.

Tom,

I found this card laying around my house and was wondering if I could use it.

it says PDC20268

Ultra100 TX2

V2.0.0210.1

It seems to be giving me issues when I plug it in.

You need to upgrade the Bios (I think what you have was originally on mine as well).

Follow the directions on the promise website (it involves copying the updater onto a DOS boot diskette - I reused my Intel D865 bios update diskette for that).

We've used V2.0.0.210.2 without issues.  Probably best thing to do is follow dschur's advice and upgrade it's bios.
