How to gracefully restart from command line...

Featured Replies

I'm working on a script to reboot/shutdown my unRAID server. I have a few third party applications that need to be stopped (CrashPlan, SABnzbd, etc) and I have those figured out...

What is the "proper" way to stop or reboot from the command line? Will the normal "shutdown -r now" work? or does the array need to somehow be stopped?

This will be easier in the 5.X series where we'll have true triggers to events.  For now, I use this: (with the "-u" option) http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=5686.0

The array will need to be stopped or you'll be faced with a full parity check when you reboot.

You can NOT use shutdown to cleanly stop the array.

Just to confirm - there is no command line stop in the default unraid package?  Still need to install add-ons?

Several commands are required. See Console Commands in my sig.
