January 16, 201115 yr Hi! I am currently running unraid on my server in the garage off of a flash drive. It also boots SAB 0.5.4. What would be the easiest way to update SAB to the latest version. I am afraid that my skills with this sort of thing are quite limited so if you could keep it simple :-) Wrooty
January 17, 201115 yr I first stopped SAB. I then just downloaded the new zip file for SAB and then unzipped it to my SAB directory. You then have to log-on and run it again or reboot to get it re-started. The config files and such are created as it runs so you won't over write them and mess anything up. Peter
January 17, 201115 yr Yep what Lionel said. You could also create a backup copy of you sabnzbd folder, like, sabnzbd_backup Thats what I do until everything is running smoothly. Also, have you tried, sickbeard and couchpotato? Awesome software! Good luck with your setup!
January 18, 201115 yr Author Hi! Thanks for your replies. I will give it a go. Good call on the back-up idea. I often forget and regret! Will let you know how it goes. Aaron.
January 21, 201115 yr Author Hello! OK. I have tried simply unzipping an updated version onto the server but it did not work. I think I left out some information when I first submitted this. My unraid is running on a flashdrive. The server has no O/S. It installs unraid and sab everytime it boots (I never really shut it down). I really don't know how it works as I had help setting it up. All that I know is that the server installs unraid and sab from my 1GB flash drive.
January 21, 201115 yr FYI, every unRAID runs off a flash drive (well some people run unRAID over a full Linux install from a hard drive but that's not a usual system). I bet you are running the SAB all-in-one package. If you are, you will find a file called SABnzbd-0.5.4-i586-unRAID.tgz on your flash drive. You shoudl be able to just replace it with this one. You will have to edit the file called go on the flash drive and change the line with the SABnzbd-0.5.4-i586-unRAID.tgz to read SABnzbd-0.5.6-i586-unRAID.tgz http://www.bibliognome.com/unraid/SABnzbd-0.5.6-i586-unRAID.tgz What happens with downloads during a reboot? Does SAB reset (as in the downloaded files disappear)? I have SAB installed (just unzipped really) on my cache drive and it stays there permanently. The AIO was a quick fix but honestly it's not a great way to run it. I think it might use the flash drive to store some files which is a bad idea too. Here is a quick overview I wrote up explaining how to install it permanently. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2903.msg89747#msg89747 Peter
January 22, 201115 yr Author lionelhutz! You beauty! Thanks. That has worked a treat. Where did you find the package version of sab and unraid? Sab works well as is and I could probably install it on a drive I have in the server but I am just not skilled enough yet. But you have really helped me! Thanks! Just a note for anyone that wants to do this: Backup your flash Just replace the zip file new for old Edit to go file. Ensure you include .tgz at the end Sab will be the lastest version with all your previous settings. Aaron
January 22, 201115 yr Glad I could help. You'll want a permanent install if you start running SickBeard and CouchPotato on there too. Peter
January 22, 201115 yr I run SAB and Sickbeard on my Windows machine. Don't want to tie up my unRAID box with trivial stuff. What is Couchpatato? Is that made for a Windows based machine?
January 23, 201115 yr Well I feel that Sab and Sickbeard are a perfect match on the server. Then, the server just runs in the background downloading and sorting the files without having to transfer anything over the network. Couchpotato is like Sickbeard but for movies. Look up Ruudburger Couchpotato. Peter
