October 16, 20205 yr User defined XX MB of first part of files in a folder added to cache. The purpose is to reduce time from press play to video actually playing. // Frode
October 17, 20205 yr Don't see how this could work. At the very least it isn't well defined. Do you mean every video file you have should always have the beginning of the file on cache all the time? Or do you mean it should be read from wherever it is and stored on cache instead of actually starting to play (what would be the point of that)?
October 17, 20205 yr Author The purpose is to reduce the time from you press play until the movie actually shows on screen. If Plex reads the first part from a ssd cache, the idea is that the movie starts playing faster than from a hdd in the array.

That is basically just a repeat of your first post. 14 hours ago, trurl said: At the very least it isn't well defined. So are you suggesting that ALL movies have their first part stored on cache ALL the time? If not ALL movies ALL the time, then what would be the criteria for deciding which movies, and how would you decide when they needed to be there?
October 18, 20205 yr Author All the movies in a folder at all time could be one option. To sort on time and alphabet would be nice. How much of the movie should ideally be until array hdd have spun up.
