jj_uk
I see this when the server restarts (after a power cut and the ups shut it down). Is this a failing flash disk? Also, after the server booted, I get this notification: Quote 2020-10-17 04:19 AM Unraid Cache disk SMART health [202] Warning [TOWER1] - percent lifetime remain (failing now) is 100 Crucial_CT525MX300SSD1_174819E38A5D (sdb) warning when i click into my cache drives, i see: Quote 202 Percent lifetime remain 0x0030 000 000 001 Old age Offline FAILING NOW 100 So that's a dead flash disk too? It's only 3 yrs old. Quote Link to comment
Vairfoley
The message you're getting at POST isn't telling us which drive it's detecting a SMART error from. But the other notification says your Crucial MX300 (CT525MX300SSD1_174819E38A5D) SSD is showing an error. Usually, USB Flash Drives/Disks don't have SMART capabilities so it definitely looks like your SSD is failing and not the flash drive. It's not unheard of for an SSD to die in 3 years, especially if you're using it very heavily. The only way to know for sure would be testing to see if you still get the error with the SSD removed or if you can test the SSD with another computer. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Also that SMART error doesn't necessarily mean the SSD is dying, just that it's past the predicted flash life, many SSDs can last for twice that or even more. Quote Link to comment
jj_uk
Thanks. I'll unplug the ssd and reboot to see what happens. Edited January 8, 2021 by jj_uk Quote Link to comment
