  • [6.5.3, 6.6.0-rc2] Duplicate MAC from different NICs (Aquantia & Intel)

    • Closed Minor

    Two NICs from the "Asrock Z370 Professional Gaming i7" motherbaord are listed with the same MAC address. (Behaviour identical between 6.5.3 and 6.6.0-rc2)

    This is the after the FIRST boot with a fresh install:

    After rebooting eth0 is displayed as eth111, MAC address conflict is persistent:

    EDIT:

    3 hours later, the MAC address property field of eth0/eth111 is now a Yes/No dropdown menu.

    Can you delete the file "network-rules.cfg" in the folder /config on your USB device.

    Reboot the system and post the content of the newly created file "network-rules.cfg"

    I don't see how to change the MAC address from your BIOS so I'm not sure how this happened but since there's nothing plugged in to the port that's causing issues I would suggest disabling it in BIOS:

    Advanced --> Chipset Configuration --> Inte(R) Ethernet Connection I219-V --> disable

    Hi, thanks for your reply. I did what you asked, the newly created file is attached to this post.

    With your input I was able to solve the problem for my particular use-case. I'm passing through the adapter to a VM, but its "remains" in the Unraid System kept me from configuring the network routes to my liking.

    By appending "iommu=pt xen-pciback.hide=(00:1f.6) vfio-pci.ids=8086:15b8" to the Syslinux config, then deleting "network-rules.cfg" and rebooting, the interface no longer appears in the networking settings or Dashboard. So I'm happy now, thanks.

    The problem in general remains though.
