So an update. I can tell you that AP's and Switches on this new version(I dont have a USG or any of that stuff) all work fine on this version. No CPU issues or anything and speeds all normal. I am using TAG: version-6.1.71 Firmware for AP's : 4.3.28.11361 Firmware for switch: 5.43.23.12533 All the issues on the forum primarily revolve around the new UI being rubbish, the advert thing and setting either not working in either the classic or the new UI so for some settings you have to use the new UI and some settings you change in the classic UI. Other than that annoyance, which is largely cosmetic, there are not showstoppers. I use the app on my phone a lot and that seems just fine, and any setting not in the phone, I have had no issue on the classic settings on the web UI. So if you dont mind cosmetic problems, and are really just wanting a stable 6 release where your devices dont max their CPU or any of that stuff, Im pretty happy with it overall. No doubt the advert thing is here to stay and over time the UI bugs will be worked out. For me this version works ok, I dont sit poking around the controller all day, as I setup my network a long time ago and its configured how I want. I dont change anything very often and just wanted a stable version of the controller. I might use this one for a while. If you can live with the interface changes then this might be fine for you also. If anyone else wants to test and post feedback that would be great. I probably wont change from this version for a bit as its working for me.

You set the override inform url in the controller somewhere I forget the exact place.

You can turn it off with classic view... for now. We all know that classic view is a temporary thing that will eventually be pulled. Luckily its just cosmetic and seems like this version is stable after 24h. I will check everything properly come monday when its had a few days with no reboots and report on the devices health and controller health/resources etc.

...aaand the new dashboard is just a big advert with no widgets anymore. Well if you can live with a massive advert it appears everything is still functional after the update. I will let everyone know on Monday like I said how it all performs. Hopefully this is the ok version 6 release. Hopefully someone works out how to disable adverts because thats just a fing joke logging into a controller and seeing an advert that takes up 50% of the screen. Hopefully thats the only issue as its mostly cosmetic.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Im updating now and will post on Monday what happened. Tag version-6.1.71.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Adding the flags helped - limiting dicker to 4GB I believe was what everyone found worked without it crashing or anything bad.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Huh I see. I dont have any old AP's so I guess I didnt read or understand that correctly. Currently i am having some issues with 6.0.45. I am waiting for the next version and praying my problems go away. As far as i know some people can use 6.0.45 without any problems, and some not. It depends on your specific setup. my setup is pretty basic. i have 2 AP's and a Switch, somehow that is too much for 6.0.45. 5.14 is the only version i know of that everyone who has ever reported moving to, has then confirmed they have had no problems and are happy. In addition, the only new feature presented in 6.0.45 over 5.14 is the ability to adopt the new wifi6 LR model. So unless you own that exact AP, there is no benefit from moving to 6.0.45. If you do own it, then you have no choice but to move to it. So thats pretty much the state of play. As soon as a release comes along that clears up all my issues, I will tell everyone and then more people will hopefully test it and we can find out if its good for most people or not like we did with 5.14. Thats how we determined it was a good version. Hope that helps.- Unraid Feature Request Wishlist
Imagine having a proper backup solution and being able to use Unraid in the enterprise as a result.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Huh? Im confused. You said you wanted one that worked with really old AP's as per announcement? Why would you ask me if that is more stable over the much newer and more recent version that does not support your old AP's? Im confused as to what you are asking? If you want the best most stable version go with 5.14. it was released 6 months ago. It does not support your old AP's. Thats too bad. You want to not fork out cash then you have to use an old version that was not updated with any patches for over a year. Its not a question of stability at that point. Stop confusing me.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
I am guessing 5.11.50-ls40. Maybe take a backup in case that is wrong. Probably that version though.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
unifi-controller:5.14.23-ls76 for sure is the best by far. Im still struggling on on the 6.0.45 version. The moment I find/am able to actually be allowed to upgrade to a stable well working 6 version I will tell everyone. I check every single day for one. Im hopeful its close because they actually released an RC version which means they might actually be taking an active interest in quality control so if that hope is true maybe it wont be long now until a good 6 version comes out. It could be any day now if we are lucky.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Im also waiting dont worry. Maybe it will be the one.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Im still stuck on this latest 6 version and no update in sight. The wifi is defiantly slower. I used to be able to push 400Mbps now only 250Mbps. i mean not the end of the world but irritating when i had a better time of it before. Its like if I hadnt seen such riches before I would have been happy being poor but now Im stuck on 6 and feel I have had something taken away from me with the "slower" 250Mbps. Not sure why is slower even because the AP only shows 30% utilization when I am doing a speedtest, no discernible problems etc. its like it just wont go over doing 30%, like it decides thats all the client could need no point trying any harder. I mean I do get it - that is all one really needs per client but it didnt do that before so why do it now??- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
My God now I know what its like endlessly waiting for the next updating hoping it will fix all your problems. I check every day and am constantly disappointed. Next time one of you guys can upgrade and take one for the team.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Interesting. I bought mine off amazon, so likely my warranty was expired before I ever even saw it.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
I bought some extremely small 5v USB fans (0.75w each - they came in a pack of 5) from Amazon overnight and just duct taped 2 of them (so one can fail) to the one side of the switch, and made sure all the holes were covered on that side of the switch with duct tape so air has to pass through the fans. I mounted them so they pull air out rather than blow into the device (dust reasons) and after an hour the temperature dropped from 58C to 42C. It was a pretty simple fix that doesn't void the warranty since once you remove them unifi cant know anything was stuck to the switch and the unit is much cooler to the touch so probably everyone should do it.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Ok I will buy and put a fan on the switch. Thanks guys.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
@axiphermy unifi switch runs at around 60 degrees celsius. Seems nuts to me. What temperature does your one run at?- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
I have used it for a week and wouldnt recommend it. Im waiting for the next update to hopefully move to and fix my cpu issue but I can only wait in hope for it to come out, and then be an improvement. No guarantees Im afraid. I saw there is a new firmware for my APs also now so probably I will update that at the same time a new controller version comes out and just hope it is better than this version. It sucks because once you upgrade moving back is a struggle.- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Hi All, Just an update since I upgraded to 6.0.45 and 4.3.24.11355. I said I would report my findings. So far everything has been semi ok. By this I mean that since upgrading to these versions my AP's do work but the CPU utilization on them is always at a constant 75%. They are always just doing "something" since the update and cpu is always near max. The memory is fine, but I dont think this was ever a problem before this version or was like that before. That said, everything does work, so not sure what to make of that. I havent gained any benefit, except this strange CPU usage. So I dont know what to make of this update. If anyone else wants to try and let me know what happens for them that would be helpful. Pete- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Same here... I did update yesterday and it seems to be working but I cant see a later firmware than 4.3.24.11355 which is strange. I did roll that out also... On the site it says that 4.3.26.11358 should exist but I cannot find it? So far it seems to have worked for 1 day, but will just wait now. I dont see a prompt for that 6.1.51 version yet but agree that one has a lot of changes so it might be a bad one to upgrade to. This particular one doesnt have too many 'fixes' (aka things that might be broken due to new code) so hopefully it will be ok. I will just let you all know what happens. Not sure if anyone else sees the 4.3.26 firmware in their controller or if its just me who does not see it... Pete- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
I saw that not many people complained about latest version 6.0.45 so I have updated to it. I only use AP's so will let you know if its ok for me. If it is and you use extra stuff like USG's or whatever you will have to do further testing. Pete- [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
Please let us know if you manage to complete this without any issues and everything works or not at the end of it. - [Support] Linuxserver.io - Unifi-Controller
