Solutions

  1. mr.x's post in Unassigned devices failing to upgrade was marked as the answer   
    i rebooted unraid and it gave me an alert that usb was in read only mode.  guessing usb was failing.  i replaced the usb and now i am able to update the plug in.  sorry for the noise.  strange i had to reboot the server to see the error with usb.
