Solutions

  1. jvlarc's post in Home Assistant VM Not Connecting to Network After Restoration was marked as the answer   
    I found the solution: it seems I had disabled bridging for some reason when it showed up using "Fix Common Problems" during the transfer, which caused the VM to not obtain the correct IP address.
