  1. yes the usb key is detected in the bios. The folder is already EFI- :
  2. yes it does. i have managed to install it on another usb key 128Gb but impossible to boot on it.
  3. i am trying to create the usb boot drive via the unraid usb creator but it doesnt detect the usb drive. it is a 16 BG stick and i have formated it to NTFS. Could anyone tell me why it is not detecting the usb drive please ? Many thanks
  4. thanks for your reply. I only ask because i saw videos showing people doing the unraid pluging the hdmi cable in the hdmi port of the mother then switching to hdmi port on graphics card for VMs.
  5. i have an i9 9900kf and i just learned that it doesn't have integrated graphics. for a unraid server do i need integrated graphics in the CPU or is my GTX Titan Z enough. I have seen videos showing that you need to do the config via the hdmi port on your motherboard. thanks for your replies
  6. when you use 2 drives for parity, can we still use them for NAS or something else or are they dedicated ? Thanks
  7. also with parity drives, can you still use them or not ? thanks
  8. thank you for taking the time to respond. I would like to run unraid as NAS, plex server and VMs. for future proofing i will need 8 Tb of storage. I will use an M.2 NVME SSD for cache, but what kind of HDD or SSD would you recommend ? WD Red / saeagate ironwolf ? but those are only for NAS and run at approximately 5400 rpm. or should i get HDD drives that run at 7200 rpm ? many thanks
  9. I thank you all for taking the time to answer my questions. i am glad i joined this comunity . Thank you so much
  10. Thank you all for your advice and comments. What would you recommend doing first ? upgrading my motherboard, CPU and RAM and then buy hdd later and create the the Unraid server ? Thank you
  11. thanks for your reply. last questions please: Seagate Ironwolf or WD caviar Red ? and What would you recommend doing first ? upgrading my motherboard, CPU and RAM and then buy hdd later and create the the Unraid server ? Many thanks
  12. thank you for you response. I don't intend to create a lot of vms. just one in Windows 10 for gaming and another one in ubuntu. Maybe more in the future. Seagate Ironwolf or WD caviar Red ? Indeed another one of my questions would be are there any issues when you want to upgrade your hardware ? is there some you need to do in Unraid in particular ? What would you recommend doing first ? upgrading my motherboard, CPU and RAM and then buy hdd later and create the the Unraid server ? Thanks
