  1. on Unraid 6.9.2

I added a nvme drive as a new pool called "virtual"

I also have a cache pool with 3 SDD called "cache"

In my shares, I chose to put "domains" as prefer : virtual so that my vm's are on the nvme drive

    Everything works fine.

But I have notices, in my share page, I have a warning next to domains saying "some or all files are unprotected".

All files are on the virtual pool just as all files in appdata are in cache pool. I don't get the difference.

Is it because I only have one nvme drive so there is no raid? So people with only one cache drive have also this warning?

    thanks

  2. I've got a Dell H200 6 Gbit/S SAS LSI 9210-8i connected to a Lenovo 16-Port 6 Gbit/s SAS-2 Sata Expander connected to the backplane.

all cables seem ok, and everything works well when I have no parity disk. (I meen it does not disable other disks).

I have reduced my number of drives because I was suggested a power issue but it does not resolve the problem (removed 8 drives)

I only had 8To seagate errors until now and todays try made 2 WD fail also. I stopped the parity sync, stopped the array, restarted the array and disks are connected again so I realy don't think of a power or cable issue.

  3. Hello,

I'm new to unraid and started my server in september or something like that. I've been adding disk as I was migrating my data.

since december I would say I'm having some issues with parity sync.

every time I have a parity sync (manual or scheduled) I loose some disks. it just says it's got errors and removes it from the array. but when I test the drive, it is fine.

I've been changing disks, rebuilding arrays, adding/removing disks, I've tryed all I could think off but I still have the issue.

    could someone help?

  4. Hello,

I'm having some problems with unraid, I've got a couple Ironwolf 8To and after each check, it disables 1 or 2 of them saying their is a problem.

but the disk is fine when tested in another computer. I have changed some of the disk (with new ones and in a different rack) but at the next check, same problem.

is their some sort of problem between seagate and unraid?

if I reset the config and do a parity check, everything is ok back again, but I would like to avoid doing this every month.

logs where made after a reboot hoping it would came back 😕

  5. Hello,

    I'm following the setup guide (https://technicalramblings.com/blog/how-to-setup-grafana-influxdb-and-telegraf-to-monitor-your-unraid-system/ )

after the grafana config, I get "InfluxDB Error: database not found: telegraf"

my conf is the exact same as in the tuto, is there something missing?

    thanks

EDIT: found it,   database = "telegraf" needs to be uncommented also in telegraf.conf

Did you select the encrypted option for the preferred format type of that cache pool?

Just like for the array? I didn't find that option 🙂

but if it exists, I'd be glad to try  ;-)

  7. Hello,

is there a technic to encrypt cache drive? after encrypting my disks with unassigned device to encrypted BTRFS, when I started the array again, it told me to format the cache, wich I did, and everything seems to be back to BTRFS without encryption.

is it even possible? I've got 3 SSD for the cache, and I'd realy like to encrypt it (and get it bigger)

    thanks

That's a lot for 10TB, it should be around 18 to 20 hours, unless there's some bottleneck or you have a lot of different size devices in the array.

    I've got 12 disks, 8-10 and 14To and about to add 12 more 3 and 10To.

how could I check about some bottleneck, I notices sometime data access is very slow when multiple people using it even if data is not on the same disk.

    thanks

  9. Hello, I don't know if this is the good place to post this but I'm new to unraid and after 2 month of usage, I notice that the partity check takes about 2 days for 10To.

Since hard drives are growing fast, what will happen when we will have 100To? It will take 20 days, it can't be seriously lanched every month...

And 20 days of reading on all drive will reduce performance.

I know we are not there yet, but I'm a bit concerned because we already are at the 20To limit and 4 days of check is already pretty long....

  10. Hello,

I'm using Dynamix System Autofan and I noticed it is confusing while searching for the good fan. it would be nice to be able to give them names.

also, some fan's are grouped  for the same function, could it be possible to groupe them.

one last thing, I have some fans that are directly behind hard drives to cool them.... but there is no option for drive sensor. that would be great !

    Thanks
