  1. Just thought I'd let you know I have the same mobo and an A6-5400K and it works great
  2. Check out my thread from earlier: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=25982
  3. Obviously I'm a little biased, but I'd suggest the FM2A85X-ITX + AMD A6-5400K combo since that's exactly what I use. The mobo comes with 7 SATAIII ports, while the ASUS board comes with only 2 SATAIII ports + 4 SATAII ports. As for the CPU comparison I'd point you here: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Pentium-G630T-vs-AMD-A6-5400K As you can see the A6-5400K uses more power but it's more powerful in return. You won't have a problem with 430W PSU (I use the exact same PSU), however the Intel CPU will obviously use less power. If electricity costs are important to you, then perhaps you'd consider the Intel instead. If you do decide to go Intel, I'd suggest going for a P8H77-I + i3-3220T combo. It's a little over $200 most likely, but gives you better performance than the G630T. As for RAM, I'd start with 4GB and if you find that you need more you can always upgrade. Hope that helps!
  4. Sorry, probably should have updated this post when I sold the SS-500!
  5. ASRock FM2A85X-ITX + AMD A4-5300 = $155 plus shipping ASRock FM2A85X-ITX + AMD A6-5400K = $175 plus shipping Those prices are at Newegg, could possibly find them cheaper elsewhere. I use the latter combo. Edit: You're going to want more RAM I'd imagine.
  6. Yup. Hmmm, how about the MySQL plugin ? I'm about to setup an xbmc htpc and want a cenalised do from the get go. Havent tried MYSQL but I dont know why not.
  7. They also have a new FM2 socket ITX board with 7 SATA ports. Model is FM2A85X-ITX. I have it and it's wonderful!
  8. Well if you're using a FD Array R2, where do you expect to put more than 6 HDDs? Also, the MSI board is a MicroATX board, not miniITX. As for the 200Mhz difference, you won't see much of an improvement I'd imagine. The one possible advantage the A6 would have is that it's unlocked and can be overclocked. However, I'm not even sure unRAID supports OC'ed CPUs. See this: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-A6-5400K-vs-AMD-A4-5300 (I would disregard the 3DMark11 Physics score comparison, something seems wrong about that)
  9. I run multiple add-ons on the A6 and it works great. Obviously getting a better processor might make it run faster, but how much faster I can't say. Not worth the jump in price I'd imagine unless you're Mr. Moneybags.
  10. Absolutely. I run an A6-5400k, which is only a little faster than than the A4. A4-5300 and an FM2A85X-ITX would be a terrific combo.
  11. The cheapest FM2 socket CPU on Newegg is $54.99
  12. It's an amazing case! You won't be disappointed. Well, about 2 years ago I built my server. I had a mini itx motherboard with 6 onboard sata ports. I could add the super micro 8sata expansion card to get a total of 14. So, I bought a large steel rackmount style case which has been empty with a mini itx motherboard and 6 hard drives. In 2 years I've gotten up to around 75% capacity of my 8TB of storage (I haven't started ripping BluRays yet...). I'm at the point where if I want to add drives I would need to buy the supermicro card and a pro license for unraid. That is around $200 before the cost of hard drives. Or, I can replace one of my 1TB hard drives with a larger one to get more expansion. If I buy a 4TB drive I eat around $200 anyways since it will just be used for parity. I now have a 1TB drive I could either use elsewhere or sell. I'm also prepared for 4TB drives instead of just 2TB with my current parity drive. I figure that a smaller better looking case is more reasonable since it is sitting in my livingroom TV stand in a relatively small apartment. I could always re-purpose or resell the case if I ever really need to expand my # of hard drives. At least this is what I've convinced myself of. Sounds like the right plan to me. The case looks great wherever you put it. Very sleek and minimal.
  13. I have the FM2A85X-ITX and it's really awesome. Great quality and 7 SATAIII ports
  14. No problem! I also highly recommend the mobo I used. Tremendous quality and it has 7 SATAIII ports!
  15. I might be biased, since I use this board myself, but I would say the best mini-ITX board out there right now is the FM2A85X-ITX from ASRock. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157357 7 SATAIII ports!!
  16. Well, the cache drive idles at ~30-32C, but that's with no other drives running usually. Once my monthly parity check starts on March 1, I'll let you know what the temps are like when they're all running. Also, if you haven't bought the case yet, NCIX has it for $64.99 with free shipping right now! http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=75056&promoid=1302
  17. I have a share where I'm including disk3 and disk4, but excluding disk1 and disk2. I have split level set to disabled because I want files that are transferred to the share to be balanced on both disks using the high-water allocation method. However, I've transferred a bunch of files to the share and they all seem to go onto disk3. disk3 is now 69% full while disk4 is 0% full. Is this how it is supposed to work? How can I get it to work the way I want? Thanks!
  18. There's a Serviio plugin that would work perfectly for this. See: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=19791.0
  19. I originally had my unRAID server in a full size ATX case. While that worked fine, I wanted to downsize a bit to save some space and to make it fit in with the room decor a little better. I picked the Node 304 because I LOVE Fractal Design cases (have a Define R4 for my gaming computer). They're sleek, minimal, and quiet. Cable management was a PITA, but I think I did pretty well for the amount of space I had available to me. I named it 'El Ilusionista' after the second best soccer player in the world, Andres Iniesta. Let me know what you think! CPU: AMD A6-5400K 3.6GHz Dual-Core Processor ($69.99 @ NCIX) Motherboard: ASRock FM2A85M-ITX Mini ITX FM2 Motherboard ($99.99 @ Newegg) Memory: Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1066 Memory (Already Owned) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (Already Owned) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (Already Owned) Storage: Samsung Spinpoint F4EG 2TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (Already Owned) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (Already Owned) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (Already Owned) Cache: Western Digital Caviar Blue 250GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (Already Owned) Case: Fractal Design Node 304 Mini ITX Tower Case ($69.99 @ NCIX) Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply (Already Owned) Total: $239.97
  20. I'm moving my unRAID server from a large ATX case to a mini-ITX case to save space. Other than taking a screenshot of the disk assignment page, should I be doing anything else? As long as I assign the disks to the same spaces, I can just boot up as normal, correct?
  21. I'm looking to downsize to a SFF server and was looking to see there is any interest in my current setup. You'll have to add a PSU, RAM and your HDDs but other than that, you'll be good to go. I'm looking to get around $100 (completely negotiable) for everything but send me your offers if you're interested. I'll also sell the parts individually. The top three bays of the Helios 910 are unusable because of a previously installed SS-500.
